World's Most Expensive Computer: Apple 1 Signed by Steve Wozniak Sold in Germany for Over $650,000

The auction was held in the German city of Cologne on Saturday where it was purchased by an anonymous buyer from Asia for more than 500,000 Euros or $650,000. This makes the Apple 1 the world’s expensive computing device. As a matter of fact, also last year, an Apple 1 computer was sold for about 490,000 Euros or £418,000 or $633,000.

This original Apple 1 computer is one of the first 50 built by the co-founders of Apple named as Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in Jobs' parents' garage. Surprisingly, only 200 Apple 1s were ever made; out of which 46 still remain in existence and now, only 6 of those are in working condition. This computer consists of a motherboard signed by Mr Steve Wozniak (see below image) and accompanies an original monitor, tape-player and a keyboard along with an original documentation signed by Steve Jobs.

Bob Luther, an author, termed the Apple 1 computer as the ‘Holy grail of collectable technology.’ The computer also had a number of chips along with the motherboard to play simple games and write basic programs. In context to its processing and power, the Apple 1 computer was powered and boosted by about 4KB of memory which is too less in comparison to today’s computers having more than 4 million KB of memory.
