LTE smartphone named as the LG Optimus G Pro that runs on the Android Jellybean operating system can now be rooted. This device accompanies 13 mega pixels and 2GB RAM of internal memory. Now, if you are a proud owner of this device on AT&T service, then you can implement the procedure of rooting to your device. Rooting is risky if you are a newbie and hence you need to be careful. The rooting package is required and you need to download it. Once your device is rooted, the warranty of your device lasts no more. Now, if you want to eagerly root your device, follow the instructions discussed below.

Things to be noted
  • The stepwise instructions discussed below are only applicable for the AT&T LG Optimus G Pro, model number E980.
  • These instructions are for your learning purpose and it is not guaranteed to work under your specific circumstances.

Requirements
  • AT&T LG Optimus G Pro, model number E980
  • PC having internet connection and LG drivers installed from the web or the CD provided while purchasing.
  • Original USB data cable
  • Back up the data of your phone such as SMS, MMS, contacts, call logs, multimedia etc with KIES or through any medium, so that they are not lost during the procedure. You can do this with the backup app and then restore later.
  • Charge the battery of your device fully or up to 70% so that it does not shut down in the middle of the process.
  • Enable USB Debugging and this you can do by tapping on ‘settings’ > ‘device information’ > and then enable the mode.


Instructions
  1. Firstly, you need to download the LG drivers and the 7-Zip software in order to extract some things out of it.
  2. Next, download the rooting package for AT&T LGOptimus G Pro to your computer and extract the tar, bz2 files with the suitable extracting software.
  3. Using the data cable, connect your device to the computer and leave the device on Charge Only mode. Navigate to ‘settings’ > ‘general’ >’developer options and USB Debugging.’ Here, you should ignore the warning and proceed.
  4. Open the CurrentRoot.bat and follow the instructions. Hereafter, change the Charge mode to Media sync MTP mode via the same settings.
  5. Finally, run the Super SU that is on your app drawer and make use of the rooted device. In order to confirm the root, download and install root checker app from Google Play store.
