Tutorial to Update Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 with Official Jellybean 4.1.2 XXAMD3 Firmware

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 is likely to get the Jellybean 4.2.2 but as there is no ETA official notice, there is no confirmation. However, we can update the device to Android 4.1.2 Jellybean officially with the official release of XXAMD3 Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware by Samsung. You need not worry about rooting your device as you won’t have to root your device rather revoke the root access and get your warranty back. If your device is a bricked one, then it would recover the device to its original form along with the latest firmware update. Go through the instruction below to update.

Requirements

Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini I8190.
Computer with internet data connection.
Original USB data cable
Charge the battery of your device fully or up to 70% so that it does not shut down in the middle of the process.
Back up the data of your phone such as SMS, MMS, contacts, call logs, multimedia etc with any medium, so that they are not lost during the procedure. You can do this with the backup app and then restore later. Do not backup by Samsung KIES.
Enable the USB Debugging by navigating through ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Development’ > ‘USB debugging’ and tick it.

Requirements for Custom ROM users

The cache must be cleaned before applying the official update as the phone may hang or flashing of firmware may fail.
Better to remove the cache by switching off the device power and then pressing and holding the Volume up key, menu key and power button. Release the buttons when the recovery mode turns on. Here, you need to select ‘wipe data cache’ and ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ after which you should navigate back and select ‘reboot system now.’

Instructions

Once you have removed the caches, leave the phone to rest for about 5 minutes and then go for the next step.
Next, you need to download the official Jellybean 4.1.2 XXAMD3 firmware (http://bit.ly/196HMRQ) to your computer and also download the Odin (http://bit.ly/196I2QX). Extract both with suitable extracting software and the files must be WinRAR or 7 Zip. Keep the files in such a place that you find it easily when required.
Turn off your phone. On your computer, double click on the Odin execution file to launch it. Same while, press the Volume down key, menu button and power button to make your device enter into Download mode.
Using the USB data cable, connect device to your computer and soon the Odin panel detects the device and the ID: COM turns blue. Hereafter, it will turn yellow when things are perfect and you are ready to go to the next step. In case it did not work, then you need to check if you have not upgraded the Samsung KIES version. If not, do it from the official site or by going through KIES itself.
Finally, click on PDA and select the ‘tar file.’ Here, wait for some time about a few minutes so that the update is properly functioned on your device. Your device will reboot automatically when done and then you need to detach the USB cable.
