Tutorial to Install CWM Recovery on Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000

Guys, if you are a Galaxy Tab P1000 owner, here is a guide to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery on your device and let me tell you that it is quite easy to carry out this procedure. Installation of a clockworkmod recovery image is a necessity if you want to upgrade your device and apply custom ROM in it. This installation will take place with the kernel of Technomancer provided that your device must be running on the original (stock) Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device was unveiled running on Froyo OS but was later upgraded to Gingerbread officially. Go through the below discussed instructions to install CWM Recovery on Galaxy Tab P1000.

Things to be noted

The step-wise instructions discussed below are only applicable for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, model number P1000.
These instructions are for your learning purpose and it is not guaranteed to work under your specific circumstances.
Go through the instructions before you proceed for the update.

Requirements

Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 running on the stock Android 2.3
PC and USB data cable of your device.
Download the files carefully and install Microsoft C++Redistributable on computer.
Charge the battery of your device fully or up to 70% so that it does not shut down in the middle of the process.
Back up the data of your phone such as SMS, MMS, contacts, call logs, multimedia etc with any backing software, so that they are not lost during the procedure. You can do this with the backup app and then restore later.

Instructions

Firstly, you need to download Technomacer’s Kernelzip file on to your computer.
Next, download “Heimdall Suite 1.3.2” on to your computer.
Then extract the ‘Heimdall file’ using suitable extractor software. With this, you will get the Heimdall suite drivers as well as the application.
Make your device enter into download mode by first turning it off and then pressing and holding the ‘Power button’ and the ‘Volume Down key.’ and then connect the other end of the USB cable to the device. Now, using the USB data cable of your device, connect your device to the computer.
Next, go to the Heimdall suite folder and open the zadig.exe file to install the drivers so that your device is detected.
Select ‘Options’ and choose ‘List All Devices’ and with this, you will find a drop-down menu from which you need to select anyone- Samsung USB Composite Device or Gadget Serial. Once done, select “Install Driver. “ In case you find a prompt message appearing on your screen as “unable to verify,” you should ignore it and select “install this driver anyway.”
Disconnect the data cable and turn off your device in order to enter into download mode.
You will get a file named as ‘zimage’ in the heimdall.exe folder and you need to copy this file into the Heimdall Suite folder.
Now, open a command prompt on your computer and this you can do by going to ‘start’ >’run’ >’cmd.’ In this command prompt, enter the following command.

- heimdall flash –kernel zImage

10. With this, you will find a blue colored progress line on the screen of your tablet and you should wait till the progress is complete, thereafter rebooting the device automatically.
