Posted by Unknown Rabu, 29 Mei 2013 0 komentar
One of the best merits of owning a smartphone is being able to capture the current screen of your device. While Samsung has embedded a lot of amazing features into its new Galaxy S4 device, most of the users would like to save a screenshot because of its beautiful display. For this, you don’t need to root your S4 or install any third party apps. There are two methods to capture a screenshot. While one method is quite conservative to most Android users, the other method is a common and well known method to users of previous Galaxy devices. Go through the below discussions to know the methods of capturing screenshots on Galaxy S4 and also check the video tutorial.

Capture Screenshot on Galaxy S4

Method 1:

1. Firstly, you need to place the palm of your hand on the screen of your Galaxy S4 device. Remember to unlock your hone before doing this as it will not work on a locked screen.

2. Next, you need to swipe your hand across the screen in directions, left and right. While doing this, you will hear a camera shutter sound followed by a notification displayed on the screen saying “copied to clipboard”. With this, your screenshot will be saved to your photo Gallery.

Note: Prior to the capturing of screenshot using this method, you should ‘turn on’ the “Palm motion” option. In order to turn this option ‘on,’ you have navigate through ‘Settings’ > ‘Motions and gestures’ > ‘Palm motion.’ Here, enable or disable the “Palm motion” option.

Method 2:
Another alternative method to take a screenshot on the Galaxy S4 device is to simply press and hold the ‘lock key’ and the ‘home button’ simultaneously till a camera shutter sound is heard. Once you hear this sound, know that your screenshot has been saved to your Photo Gallery.

Conclusion

You can choose any of these methods to capture a screenshot on your Galaxy S4 but the shots captured will be saved to the Photo Gallery in both the cases. These methods will work while you are on the home screen and also when you are using applications. These methods are also likely to work for the Samsung high-end smartphones such as Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note. Share your opinions below if you find these methods as useful.

Tutorial to Run Google Glass on your Android Device

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
The Google Glass is one of the biggest buzzes on the web and as you know, there are positive buzzes and negatives too. The main issues of the buzzes lay behind the privacy issues of the Google product and simple individuals you and I are not entitled to try out Google Glass as there are only a limited number of devices. In addition to these, there are some insignificant issues that the program is just an invitation and the hefty price which is about $1500. Well, you and I have got an option to do and it is run the Google Glass on our Android phone or tablet. In fact, you won’t be able to mount it on your head but all you can do is play with its interface and check out the stuffs in it.

Special thanks to Zhuowei Zhang, because of whom different parts of the Google glass can be installed on to your Android powered device via .apk files. An .apk is the file extension for a standard app file format like the .exe on Windows. In order to install the .apk files, you will have to make sure that your device is capable of installing.apk from locations other than Goolgle Play and you can do this by navigating through ‘Setting’ > ‘Security’ and the “Unknown Sources” should be checked. With this, you will be able to install apps from various sources other than the Google Play Store.

Browse to https://github.com/zhuowei/Xenologer and download the glasshome-modded.apk and install them on your device. With this, the basic ‘Glass Home’ screen will appear and when you start the Glass Home app, the “standard” Glass home screen will appear along with the clock that real Glass users see projected onto their eye. Here, you need to speak out “OK Glass” in order to access the menu and the most amazing thing is that you just need to speak out to try other stuffs in it.

Next, you need to install the camera, hangouts as well as the maps modules and this will make the Glass Home app to carry out interactions, start hangouts and access Google Maps with the camera (even only the front facing camera). While trying maps, the problem you are likely to face is not being able to cross the initial warning screen; this may tell you to keep your eyes on the road. Another issue is that Hangouts crash on Android 4.2 because of the variation in the fundamental Android code. Of course, you won’t be able to experience the complete Glass but you can get the feel of the stuffs and things it can do.

Important Things to Do before Submitting your App to the Google Play Store

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
The development of mobile applications undergoes a lot of complex programming and processes and above all, it takes a lot of your precious time. Now, if you have developed an application, submitting it to the app store is another tuff and messy task. In order to get your app approved by the app stores, you need to take heed to certain aspects and notable things. Below discussed are some things you should note before submitting your mobile app to the Android Market or Google Play store.

Get Registered as an Android Developer

The very first thing to do is to get yourself registered as an Android developer to the Play Store and then, you will have the facilities to distribute your products on this marketplace.

Test your App Thoroughly

The most important thing to do is testing your app thoroughly before submitting and this you can do by the tools provided by Android. You can use your app for the best test. Even if you can test your app by emulators, still then, you need to test it with an actual Android device so that you get the complete feel of your app. With this, all the User Interface resources of your app will also be tested and hence you can make out the efficiency of your app.

Android Market Licensing

An optional Android Market licensing facility is made available for developers and this brings a lot of benefits when you want to develop a paid app for the Android Market. With this license you acquire full legal control on your app. In order to have full control on your apps and intellectual property, you can also accompany a EULA or End User License Agreement in your app.

Prepare an Application Patent

Another important thing to do is preparing an app patent or manifest which will depict the icon and label of your app displaying it on the Home screen, Menu, My Downloads and other required destinations. Well, this patent will also be displayed by the publishing services. While creating your app’s icon, try to make it look as similar as the built-in Android apps as this will help the user to identify your app in an easy and better way.

Using MapView Elements?

If you app makes use of the MapView elements, then you need to register in advance in order to get a Maps API key. This is possible when you register your app with the Google Maps service and this will generate data from Google Maps. Keep in mind that you get a temporary key while the app development is in process but before you publish your app in actual, you need to register for a permanent key.

Clean Up Your Act

One more important thing is to eradicate all backup files, log files as well as other unwanted data from your app before you submit it to the Android Market. Remember to turn off the debug feature.

Assign a Version Number

Do remember to assign a version number for your app for sure and plan out such a number which will help you assign the subsequent update version of your app in the future.

After App Compilation

Once you have compiled your app, you can proceed and sign your app with your private key. Your signing process must be carried out carefully with no error. After this, thoroughly test your compiled app for the final time on an actual, physical, Android based device. Go through your UI and MapView elements and check whether your app runs with all the endorsement and server-side processes specified by you before you finally submit release.

Good Luck!

Tutorial to Develop Apps for Samsung Galaxy Tab

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of the best tablet devices launched by the South Korean company and it runs on the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system of Google. It flaunts with a 7-inch screen resembling a resolution of 1024x600 pixels and as a matter of fact, at that point of time, was a rival of the Apple’s iPad. This Tab grants many amazing features such as Adobe Flash 10.1, Samsung’s Social Hub app and Media Hub content services. It also enables advertisers to portray cross-channel ad campaigns throughout the Mobile Web. Being a magnificent device, developers can write a good number of apps for it. In order to know the procedure to develop apps for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, go through the discussions below.

Things to be noted
  • The difficulty level for developing apps is average while it takes a few days of work.
  • When you work using the bitmap images, you should seek advice or consult the concerned ad vendor so that you get to know the exact dimensions of the image.
  • Do not use hard-coding for pixel values instead make use of Density Independent Pixel or DPI.
  • Still then, if you face any trouble, then you can ask help from the developers at Samsung’s own Galaxy Tab Developer Forum.

Requirements
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab
  • Android programming knowledge and skills
  • Emulator
  • Key thing to have - Patience!

Instructions
  • At the start, you need to run the AVD Manager on Eclipse IDE, then select the necessary packages and then go for the installation. Hereafter, ensure yourself to restart the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) or Eclipse.
  • Next, you have to choose Samsung Galaxy as your target device and by doing this; you will be able to create an emulator for your device.
  • Your Galaxy Tab accompanies built-in support for the customization of the User Interface elements so that it works well on various screen sizes, pixel densities, etc.
  • This Tab is built with a high-density screen and so no single design is likely to work well in all screen resolutions and density. And so, you need to customize the User Interfaces according to their respective screen size, resolution as well as density.
  • Keep in mind that you will have to make use of both landscape as well as portrait layouts and as a matter of fact, the Galaxy Tab has much real estate enabling you to create more elements on the screen.
  • Another thing to remember is to create your screen layout according to the device’s display so that it fits to the large size display.
  • There is nothing bad in using lower resolution but there may not be a necessity of sharp image quality always and so make use of high density display or hdpi resources which are made available in the application package.
  • Also keep in mind to run your test on mobile platforms using the minSdkVersion APIs and the targetSdkVersion APIs.
  • If at all, you have developed some apps that do not fit to the full screen of your device, you can solve this by downloading the “Spare Parts” app from the Android Market and install it on your Galaxy Tab. Then, launch the Spare Parts, navigate to ‘Compatibility Mode’ and here, simply reboot your device.
  • The very first try may not work in some cases, if so, your second try will be your success to let your apps to be displayed in full screen.

Once you are done with the above discussed instructions, know that you have learnt the procedure to to develop apps for the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

DISCLAIMER: Note that you are following these instructions at your own risk and make sure that we are not liable for any damage caused to your device due to the instructions provided in this guide.
