Sony Announced Xperia M: Affordable Smartphone with Dual-SIM Variant [Video]

Sony has announced its Xperia M smartphone, an amazing option for the ones who would prefer a midrange handset at an affordable price. Maybe its specifications are not that fabulous but the device has been rumored to be running on the high-end Togari while the company has plans to sell the Xperia Z along with a carrier in the U.S markets. Sony keeps its presence in the low and mid-end segments of the mobile market. We would say that the Sony Xperia M comes in the same category as that of the Xperia L which was unveiled earlier this year. Sony unveiled the Xperia M in 2 versions - a single SIM version and a dual-SIM version named as Xperia M dual. The device will come in four colors namely black, white, purple and yellow which is not available for the single SIM version. The device is built with a 4.0 inches (~245 ppi pixel density) TFT capacitive touchscreen display which resembles a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. The display is multitouch capable up to 4 fingers and is protected with a scratch-resistant glass. It runs on Android v4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and is powered by Dual-core 1 GHz Krait processor along with a Qualcomm Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8227 chipset and Adreno 305 graphics processor.

The device is enabled with an internal memory of 4 GB and 1 GB RAM along with an external memory featured as microSD which is expandable up to 32 GB. It is embedded with a 5MP camera with a resolution of 2592х1944 pixels featuring autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, HDR, panorama along with Exmor RS sensor. It also has a secondary VGA camera and supports video 720p@30fps. It is provided with connectivity features such as GPRS (Up to 86 kbps), EDGE (Up to 237 kbps), HSDPA (21 Mbps), HSUPA (5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, ANT+.

This Xperia M device also features NFC functionality, something that the company endorsed in context to the Xperia Z. It supports audio via alert types such as Vibration and MP3 ringtones along with a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm audio jack. Audio is supported in MP3, eAAC+ and WAV player formats while video is supported in MP4, H.263 and H.264 player formats. Other miscellaneous features include SNS integration, Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, Document viewer, Photo viewer and editor, Voice memo and dial and Predictive text input.

It is boosted by a Li-Ion 1750 mAh battery and measures 124 x 62 x 9.3 mm (4.88 x 2.44 x 0.37 in) in dimensions and weighs 115 g (4.06 oz). The Sony Xperia M will be made available globally in 3rd Quarter of 2013 and there is no information on its price yet.
