Tutorial to Update Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 with Jellybean 4.2.2

If you are a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 owner, you can now run the Jellybean 4.2.2 update firmware on your device. Samsung may be unveiling the firmware sometime in the future for your device and this would bring new experiences to users. Now, if you cannot wait for such a long time period or if you have got itchy hands like mine, you can update your device with the Jellybean 4.2.2. With this update, you will be able to experience the same and exact features of Jellybean on your Gingerbread stock ROM running device. You can get features such as the native UI of Jellybean 4.2.2, all new camera settings, etc. Go through the below discussion and instructions to update your Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 with Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware.

Things to be noted

The step-wise instructions discussed below are only applicable for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, model number GT-P1000. Applying on other models may brick your device.
These instructions are for your learning purpose and it is not guaranteed to work under your specific circumstances.

Both the rooted device as well as the one running on the normal stock ROM can be updated.

Requirements

Samsung Galaxy Tab, model number GT-P1000 (rooted or stock ROM)
Computer with internet connectivity
Original USB data cable of your device
Install CWM Recovery on your Galaxy Tab P1000
Charge the battery of your device fully or up to 70% so that it does not shut down in the middle of the process.
Back up the data of your phone such as SMS, MMS, contacts, call logs, multimedia etc with any backing software, so that they are not lost during the procedure. You can do this with the backup app and then restore later.
Enable USB Debugging and this you can do by going to ‘Settings’ > ‘Applications’ > ‘Development’ > ‘USB debugging’ and check the box and you can untick it later after updating.

Instructions

Firstly, you need to check whether your device is rooted or not and you can confirm this by downloading and installing the Root checker app.
Using the USB data cable of your device, connect your device to the computer.
Download Jellybean 4.2.2 for Galaxy Tab P1000 and GoogleApps Package from on to your computer. Once downloaded, keep both the zip files in the SD card of your device and place it somewhere you can find it easily when needed and disconnect the USB data cable.
Enter into the recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up button, Menu Button and the Power button simultaneously for about 3 seconds.
When you are in the recovery mode, select “wipe cache partition” and “wipe data/factory reset.”
Then select “install zip from sd card” and “choose zip from sd card.” Hereafter, first flash the Jellybean 4.2.2 file and then flash the Google apps zip. It would take about 5 minutes.
Finally, navigate back and select “reboot system now” and with this your device will boot in 5 minutes.
